Puls Biznesu 2007-10-31

In Puls Biznesu, a Polish daily newspaper devoted to economics (ed. nr 2467), 31st of October 2007, Martyna Mroczek reports from the debate β€žβ€žThe Technological Innovation of Polish Firms. How can one change an idea into a very prosperous business and where can one find financing?” The meeting, organized by Puls Biznesu and the Stock Exchange Issuers Association, took place on 29th October 2007, at the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw. The participants were: representatives from the Warsaw Stock Exchange, the National Economical Chamber of Electronics and Telecommunications, KPMG and a selection of Polish firms, among which was Marek Borzestowski, co-founder of Virtual Poland and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of InteliWISE.
As of the end of November, there are 20 companies on the alternative market, New Connect, which has been working since 30th August 2007. Sales are much higher than expected and they are constantly growing. In Poland there are many creative businessmen and promising firms which don't have sufficient ready capital. New Connect can be a source of financing, as well as offering the help of authorized advisors.
At the meeting the debut on the alternative market was also analyzed, to see if it is strictly necessary and if most of the innovative firms are being immediately bought up by trade giants. Ludwik Sobolewski, the president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, said: Investors often want to share risk. A firm financed at the same time by a business angel, a venture capital fund and New Connect – is a system profitable for all players in the game.
Marek Borzestowski said that Poland is a country with big intellectual potential and he places positive value on the occurrence of competition among investors. The only thing that new businessmen lack is the capital, adds Borzestowski. I believe it's going to be easier and easier for them.
